The age old partners HM –Mitsubishi are bringing in a wave of fresh new air in Indian Automotive Sector with the Upcoming Lancer Evolution.
Lancer has been the workhorse for the Duo with maximum sales being derived from this Aging Sedan. With its new version already in international Market in 2007 , the plans are being put in place to bring it to India in 2009.The look is a wide shot from the existing laid back soft look that the present car has , they are going aggressive both with the look as well as the pricing strategy.

Exterior
The size and length is comparable to the Corolla and Civic but it scores way ahead in terms of looks. The looks has been derived from the Famous Evo series of Mitsubishi, you cant help but admire the long Bonnet studded with stretched back lamps and the invert triangular grille. Its front reminds you of the great white Shark especially the snout, that protrudes ahead of the bumper gives it a very sporty and aggressive look, something that we in India have never seen. The slick boot, side skirts, spoiler and the sporty tail lamps just push that sporty feel up a notch. The contours that have been given along the arches of each wheel gives it a Built to Last feel.

Ride and Handling
The suspension system is the improved all- independent system that has been doing the duty on all Lancers produced in the past decade. Chassis has been engineered to improve refinement cutting noise and vibrations levels. So expect a smooth ride , one for which Mitsubishi vouches for.
The Heart

The lancer comes with two engine options , the first being the petrol 16 valve 2.0 litre MIVEC motor. Its the same engine which is shared by Mitsubishi , Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai. The international version has a peppy 152 Bhp which might be reduced for Indian conditions , but not by much in order to retain the kick which will supports the sports look it holds. But the real catch is the 2.0 litre Diesel which is the same as the one being used By VW Passat. It rakes in 140 bhp and doesn’t relent on being pushed far. Both the engine options have performed exceptionally abroad especially the diesel variant. So it won’t be a surprise if the Mitsubishi moves in India with a diesel Lancer evolution first.
Interior
The interiors does justice to the sporty exterior with the black and grey dashboard being kept clean of the unruly buttons like those dotted on Honda Accord , instead the Big chrome dials and the three spoke steering wheel earmark the shift toward aggression rather than the subtleness that present Lancer has. But it does loose out on the cock pit feel that the Civic provides with its extravagant Interior, in Lancer its the understated class seeps through but liking or disliking it would be a individual decision. It has two options for interiors , one is the combination of Black and various shades of grey and another one is the black and beige combination and considering the Indian customer trends they might go in for the Beige combination.
