Volkswagen Beetle will apparently be launched in India by the November this year. What’s more, as mentioned by Kurt Rippholz, Volkswagen India. Volkswagen is taking India very seriously as they will be pumping in some 3,600 crore rupees in their Pune plant as they want to expand their production capacity.

Ludwig Geerken is the project head at Volkswagen India. He explains, “We will launch the Beetle by the end of October. We have no plans to alter our decision to invest Rs 3,600 crore in India. We will start making the Polo in our Pune plant by January and launch it by March next year. Production will start a little earlier so that we can keep enough inventories with our dealers.”
The new Volkswagen Beetle will be bought to India as CBU (completely built units). There is no information about the prices of the Beetle but they will be on the higher side because of the duty it will attract as it is being brought in as CBU , same as the case was with Fiat 500 and Fiat Bravo. It is more of a brand image activity rather than a sales one, nevertheless it sure will get people nostalgic the iconic car which is being produced by the German auto maker Volkswagen ever since 1938.
